Andrew Neville and The Poor Choices - Biography
Joyfully starting
their musical road-trip somewhere around Stompin' Tom Connors but soon getting
pulled over for road rage just outside of Social Distortion, The Poor Choices
are only too happy to spend a night in the rock klink. Their wild brand of
country-punk is loaded with crowd-pleasing attacks on traditional songs by
Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, and Bob Dylan. But it's their songwriting - as
can be witnessed on their debut album - that really defines them. This is
unpretentious Canadian rock and roll. It comes straight from the gut, and
has been well shaped and loved through the guys' relentless involvement in
the always-impressive Winnipeg music scene. As the song says, "they're
prairie boys, born and raised..."
-John Scoles, Times Change(d) High and Lonesome Club
